All to be thoroughly dealt with by the hospital surgical team The tum people tell me that the iron level of 9 is rubbish levels So I need a thorough going over internally to check the plumbing For leaks I guess! The knee pre op is in the morning They want me doing the enhanced recovery programme afterwards (anyone heard of that?) The left one was superb But it's a long recovery.... And knee 2 might not be as big a success of course. Richards dead keen But think he's able to think of benefit and not about the bed pans etc!! Lol Anyway, the outside if the right foot has decided to swell up Yep! The whole foot is doing the Mexican wave now and I've got to see the foot surgeons in the afternoon tomorrow and was hoping they'd focus on sorting out me standing on the outside edges of my feet I didn't realise the outer edge of my foot would rebel so violently?! Be still Jen, try and sleep... Hmmm! Too much popping round my head- so I think I'll check the posts out here xx how to be a velvet bulldoser

 hello Jenni Good luck with all your appointments!  Haven't heard from you in a while, sounds like you have lots going on......take care  I'm waiting for knee op (total) this is week 16 of 18 week waiting list.....so wish we didn't need our operations. I shall check to see if you've updated your doggie thread?! Has your kids done their christmas letters/given ideas on what they would like? Take care Your hubby sounds amazing looking after you! Hi Jen - I hope you finally got some sleep last night and good luck with all the appointments - you've got a lot going on atm, so try to listen to your hubby - he sounds like he's got the right idea. Bed pans won't be forever, what's a few days inconvenience compared with the being able to walk for the rest of your life?? Hi Jenni
It's such a long hard journey for you Jenni but the benefits will be enormous in the long run. Having the other knee done will really help you, I have heard of the enhanced recovery programme, quite a few hospitals are offering it. Basically it means rapid recovery, getting you mobile as quickly as possible afterwards with intensive physio and controlled pain management, so that you can return home within a shorter period of time. Hopefully this will go to plan for you....
You must be in agony with your feet, I hope the surgeon can give you some direction and hope.

Hello my cyber chums The day has been an eventful one. The first thing was the knee people and that's a no way Jose ! The aneamia is rubbish and so I can have an appt in January...! I won't get a slot on that List yet. So I trot in and have had a go making three little super hero capes for my cousins little boys, they look fun to play with- they aren't brilliant seamstressing but hey, I've tried and I'm not called wonky warrior for nothing ;) (yes I've arrived on the twitter sphere and am an official twit- @wonkywarrior ) Then valiantly splashed through the puddles and arrived at the other hospital just in time. I saw a registrar who I've not met before. He thinks I could have some tendons moved about. But (this was a bit of a shocker) he wanted to know just how long the Neuro probs have been happening I explained I've got this MS like syndrome diagnosis recently He basically said what's the prognosis? Until he knows this- he can't operate I wonder if he thinks I'm going to snuff it! Well, that would help the waiting lists in a few depts at least! ;) Lol Im off to write about the doggies :)) how to be a velvet bulldoser

Poor you and there is you sympathising with me.
Sorry your knee is a no go at the moment but I expect they need you to be in as fit a condition as possible to get through another major operation. I would be interested to know what the intensive recovery is you spoke about on your other post. It is nearly two years in January since I had mine done and my mobility is rubbish. I do think it was down to the lack of physio I had after the Op (I had the Op done privately through work medical insurance). All the private physio seemed to be interested in telling me was what she did last weekend and what was coming up for the next weekend. I presume intensive recovery is a full on physio programme which is definitely something I would like when the next knee needs to be done.
I am sorry to hear also about your iron levels. There are many causes, as you know, so it looks like you may have to run the length of investigations to find out what is causing it.
When you talked about having the tendons moved about I presume this was for your feet? Obviously the Registrar does not know you very well. Snuff it - not **** likely. If anyone is going to beat this you are with all that you have been through. As you said you are not called wonkyWARRIOR for nothing.

Yep, it's the foot surgeon who thinks he's able to help with the tendons I wasn't as confident actually with him as when I went last time. He seemed to think the ra was not as much of a concern but the big toe wants to hide under the others and the next toe is in on the act and covers the hiding toe by scrunching itself up and clawing at the floor. The enhanced recovery programme is something they've introduced at the hosp I will keep you posted. I'm a bit nervous about it as I'm concerned its aimed at the average osteo patient with knee operations not the 36 yr old with severe ra and other complications. I'm not going to be striding across the mountains... The physical I had at home was superb She came in each day to start with then 2-3 times a wk This carried on for about 3 months It has been very good She sorted me a rolator to walk with and I can hobble about nicely indoors. Good huh? I think you can get this through the gp if you need a physio set of sessions. Mine has been so good. I'm sure the physio has helped in the mix. Much love Jenni how to be a velvet bulldoser

Is the tum problems linked with the upset tummy you had a month or so ago?
It must be so frustrating for you all of these problems, they seem to come one after the other for you, you think you've got something sorted and then WHAM BANG something happens and you have a set back.
I know you will cope with it all, you always do, such a trooper, you just accept things and get on with it work out what can be done. Amazing Wonkey Warrior you are!!!!!!!

Yes and no Paula, tummy referral came from this but the gastro specialist thinks that could have been a tummy over reaction to a type of infection that just kept on going (pardon the pun!) My anaemia just gets worse though and it's an iron deficient one which suggests gastric bleed somewhere. They have got to find it that's the first thing. So it's tubes and cameras in the top end (BBC on standby) The same up the other end (obviously ITV that side of things!!!!) how to be a velvet bulldoser

Wow Jenni, you certainly don't do things by halves do you???!!! I was threatened with all the camera business about a year ago with a suspected stomach ulcer. Came off the anti inflammatries, increased the omeprazole, took loads of iron and blood count gradually rose. If I had to have it done would certainly go for the sleeping option with the throat one. Never take naproxin now, I still do get loads of heart burn and indegestion though so think things are not quite right there. Sorry about all the other probs. going on. oh ok girls and guys its time to face up.... ive got the app for the cameras.... 2nd and 3rd of Jan and a Happy new year to you too mr smith (gastro surgeon) i think for now, Ive decided to try and stick to the "bare minimum" option of surgery I really want this helper doggy and to have some life but then my gran says to have surgery when im still young enough to cope with it all. hmm toughy while i muse, pass another mince pie... (On reflection not sure "pass" was the right term!) how to be a velvet bulldoser
